We've always done the traditional chocolate advent calendar every year but this year I wanted to change things up, the last thing my kids need is more chocolate! I want to teach them about kindness, giving back to the community and compassion for other people this Christmas season. We have a list of 25 things we'll do leading up to Christmas to make someones day just a little bit better.
We found these fantastic RACK card templates here as well as some fantastic ideas! Here's a list of the ones we're going to tackle this Christmas season!
If you have more ideas for us please leave a comment!
- Pay for someone behind us in a drive-thru

This is so incredibly awesome!!
A fabulous idea! I think I will steal it!
One my girls and I always do is create a few dollar-store stockings (putting together stickers, crayons, colouring book, bubbles, trinkets and toys, a tiny teddy, candy canes and chocolates) and then deliver them to the nurses station at the Emergency of our local children's hospital. The nurses hand them out to children as a way of calming them down and distracting them from the pain (and boredom!) they are facing. It's a godsend to both parents and children. We spent 5 awful hours in the Emergency one Christmas Day and a nurse delivered a stocking to her! It worked. For a little while, she forgot about how much fun she was missing seeing her cousins at the family party and how much pain she was in. We've paid this thoughtful and welcome treat forward every year since!
Along with a fire hall go to an ambulance station!! I know my husband would really appreciate a treat dropped off :)
